A fortress above a secret
The Frostguard Citadel watches over the Howling Abyss and preserves records and treasures from the Freljord’s past. Its religious authority is inseparable from Lissandra. The galleries show defences built into the chasm itself, including barriers and enormous stones held ready above the sleeping Watchers.
Why this place matters
This is both an institution that controls historical memory and a defensive site against a real threat. The contrast explains why its guardians can be protectors and keepers of dangerous secrets at the same time. Read Lissandra’s story alongside the citadel’s architecture.
