In the far north, the tribes of the Freljord live among ancient traditions, ice and rivalries.

A homeland shaped by survival
Across northern Valoran, distance and winter shape almost every decision. Communities depend on hunting, herding, seasonal movement and the resources they can preserve. A settlement is also a network of obligations: kinship, hospitality and allegiance decide who will share shelter when the cold returns. The Freljord is inhabited by humans, trolls, yetis and beings whose stories belong to its oldest religious traditions.
Three visions of the north
Ashe’s Avarosans seek a future built on cooperation between tribes. Sejuani’s Winter’s Claw relies on raiding and the refusal to surrender to hardship. The Frostguard preserve a religious authority centred on Lissandra and their remote citadel. These are competing answers to survival, rather than three interchangeable armies: their choices affect farming, migration, warfare and the stories told about the past.
True Ice and living belief
True Ice does not melt, and its touch is deadly to most mortals. The Iceborn can endure it and wield weapons made from it; this exceptional gift should not be confused with ordinary resistance to cold. Beyond such relics, spirit walkers and worshippers of the old gods connect daily life to powers such as Anivia, Ornn and Volibear. Their followers do not all agree on humanity’s place in the world.
