Bilgewater Bay
Layered docks, repurposed hulls and a trade in sea creatures: the bay moves to the rhythm of the ocean.
Inside the story · 2 MIN
Sea trade · Buhru traditions · Rival captains
Working at the waterline
The bay’s docks, canals and cliffside buildings support the port’s maritime economy. Captured sea creatures are brought ashore to be processed into food and valuable materials. Reused hulls and narrow walkways show a city assembled from what its inhabitants can obtain rather than from one central plan.
Why this place matters
Height is also a sign of relative security: the poorest residents live closest to the water and its hazards. Reading the bay vertically reveals inequality as clearly as the rivalry of its captains. The ocean is workplace, trade route, source of belief and burial ground.
